Understanding Source Insights in Mary

Last updated: February 23, 2026

What are they?

The Source Insights feature gives you control over how much information you see in your chronology output.

By default, facts are now presented in a more concise and succinct format that highlights only the key details. Yet, you can expand any fact to reveal its full detail when needed.

Why it matters?

Chronologies can become dense and overwhelming when every entry is written in long form. The new Source Insights feature is designed to help you see the key information first, while giving you access to deeper context on demand.

This supports faster scanning, analysis, and interrogation, and provides confidence that no detail is lost.

How it works

Concise by default
Matters will automatically display concise entries that capture the key facts as the default.

For Personal Injury matters, particularly medical negligence cases, selecting Detailed will maintain verbose output with emphasis on verbatim content.

One-click expansion
Click See Insight on any entry to view more detail — a summary of the relevant source documents used to produce the entry.

Replace fact
Click Replace fact to replace the default concise entry with the Source Insight.

Use cases

  • Chronologies: Mary’s default output will now closely mirror manually drafted chronologies in detail level.

  • Preparing a brief: Quickly review a clean, high-level timeline, then expand key periods to confirm context before exporting.

  • Client meetings: Use the concise view for efficient discussion and expand entries on the spot when clarification is needed.

  • Internal review: Expand facts for verification of the details, or peruse the concise entries to quickly grasp the matter.
