How to Export Your Chronology to Word

Quick answer: Open your matter, go to the Chronology view, click Export, and choose Current view. This downloads a Word document containing all visible entries. You can use filters to export specific subsets of your chronology.

Tip: If you need a focused summary on specific issues rather than the full chronology, try Fact Explorer. Ask Mary a question and receive a targeted, table-based answer with source references — no export needed. Look for the Fact Explorer tab on your matter.

How to Export

  1. Open your matter.

  2. In the left sidebar, under Views, click Chronology (this is the default view, showing Very High and High relevance entries).

  3. If you want a specific subset of entries, apply filters first — for example, filter by date range, relevance level, or a specific View you have created.

  4. Click Export.

  5. Choose Current view. This exports only the entries currently visible on screen.

  6. The Word document will download automatically.

What the Export Includes

  • All visible columns from the current view at the time you export

  • Source document names and page references in the Source column

  • Your current sort order

  • Hyperlinks back to the source documents in Mary (clickable if the recipient has a Mary account)

Exporting Filtered Results

The Current view export option means you can customise what gets exported by adjusting filters before exporting:

  • By relevance: Set the relevance filter to show only entries rated Very High to focus the export on the most important facts.

  • By date range: Narrow to a specific period relevant to your current work.

  • By View: If you have created a custom View (e.g., "Medical Records Only" or "Liability Events"), select that View before exporting.

This is particularly useful for practitioners who need to share only a portion of the chronology — for example, a family law practitioner exporting only entries from the period of separation for a financial disclosure affidavit.

Known Limitations

Known limitations:

  • Hyperlinks to source documents only work for recipients who have Mary accounts and access to the matter.

  • For best accuracy and context, we recommend completing as much review as possible in Mary before exporting.

If This Doesn't Resolve Your Issue

  1. If the export button does not respond, try refreshing the page with Ctrl+Shift+R (Windows) or Cmd+Shift+R (Mac).

  2. If the exported Word document appears empty or incomplete, check that you had entries visible on screen before exporting — empty filters will produce an empty export.

  3. If you need to share with colleagues who have Mary accounts, consider using the Invite feature to share the matter directly instead of exporting.

  4. For any other export issues, email support@marytechnology.com with the matter name and a description of the problem.
