Clean Up Your Document Index Before You Export

Last updated: January 15, 2026

Once a bundle gets uploaded, splitting it into individual documents is a huge time saver. But until now, you were stuck with whatever names and details came out the other side.

That’s why we’ve improved the document index so you can edit split documents directly.

Rename documents to match how you work

You can now change the name of a split document, update its description, and adjust its relevance rating. This is especially useful when the default PDF name is not meaningful, or when you want the document list to reflect what the file actually is.

For example, you might rename a document to include:

  • A client or patient name

  • The provider or hospital

  • The type of report or correspondence

  • The date or time period covered

Better exports, less rework

These edits carry through to export, so when you export your documents, they come out named exactly how you want. No more downloading a pile of files and manually renaming them afterwards.

More control over what matters

Being able to tweak relevance in the index also means you can quickly flag what is important, and down-rank what is not. It’s a small quality of life upgrade, but it adds up fast when you’re working through large matters.

As always, we’d love your feedback. This is part of a broader push to make Mary easier to use, faster to navigate, and more aligned with how you actually run a matter.
