Troubleshooting Chronology Loading and Processing Issues

Troubleshooting Chronology Loading and Performance Issues

Quick answer: Most loading issues are resolved by refreshing the page. For very large chronologies, set the relevance filter to "Very High" or "High" to reduce the number of visible entries and improve performance.

Tip: If you need to find specific information in a very large matter, try Fact Explorer instead of scrolling through thousands of entries. Ask Mary a direct question and she will locate the answer with source references. Look for the Fact Explorer tab on your matter.

Common Solutions

  1. Refresh the page. Press Ctrl+Shift+R (Windows) or Cmd+Shift+R (Mac) for a hard refresh. This resolves most loading and display issues.

  2. Check your internet connection. Run a speed test to verify your connection. Try switching to a different network (such as a mobile hotspot) to see if the issue persists.

  3. Check for firewall restrictions. Some corporate networks block connections to the platform. If you are on a firm network, check whether app.marytechnology.com is allowed through your firewall.

Performance With Large Chronologies

Very large chronologies can experience slower loading, freezing during deletion, and pagination issues. This is a known performance limitation.

To improve performance on large chronologies:

  1. Switch to Concise mode. Concise mode typically produces fewer entries per document, reducing the total entry count.

  2. Set relevance filters. Filter to "Very High" and "High" relevance first. This significantly reduces the number of visible entries and speeds up loading.

  3. Use date filters to isolate ranges. If you need to review or delete entries from a specific period, use the date filter to narrow the visible set before working with the entries.

Bulk Deletion in Large Chronologies

If you need to delete a large number of entries and the page is freezing:

  1. Apply a date filter to isolate the range of entries you want to remove.

  2. Use the select-all checkbox to select all visible entries in the filtered view.

  3. Click bulk delete. Deleting in smaller filtered batches is more reliable than attempting to select and delete thousands of entries at once.

Specific Issues and Solutions

Cannot access existing chronologies

If clicking on a matter does nothing or the page stays on the home screen, refresh the page and try again after a few minutes. This is typically a temporary system issue.

Stuck on "Review and Submit" page

If you cannot see the Submit button at the bottom of the page:

  • Scroll down in the white space area under "Area of law" rather than within the document list

  • Check your browser zoom level -- if zoomed in, the bottom of the page may be hidden

  • Refresh the page to resolve display issues

Chronology stuck in "Processing" status

During high-traffic periods, chronologies may be queued to maintain quality. This is normal. Your chronology will complete processing and you will receive an email notification when it is ready. Refresh the page periodically to check status.

Known Limitations

Performance at scale: Very large chronologies may experience slower loading times, page freezing during bulk operations, and pagination issues. Using Concise mode and relevance filters is the recommended approach for very large matters. We are working on performance improvements for large chronologies.

If This Doesn't Resolve Your Issue

  1. Try opening your matter in an incognito/private browser window to rule out extension or cache conflicts.

  2. If the chronology loads but is extremely slow, apply relevance filters immediately before interacting with entries.

  3. If loading issues persist for more than 5 minutes after a hard refresh, email support@marytechnology.com with the matter name, the number of documents, and a screenshot of the loading state.
