Add Context at Upload and Get to the Right Facts Faster

Last updated: January 15, 2026

When you upload documents into a matter, the difference between “Mary understood it” and “Mary missed what I care about” usually comes down to context.

That’s why we’ve updated the upload flow to let you add context as you upload, not after the matter is created.

Context upfront means better relevance immediately

Previously, if you wanted Mary to prioritise certain issues, you had to wait until the matter was created, then go edit the matter summary and key issues. Now you can tell Mary what you’re looking for from the outset, right inside the upload flow.

For example, you can add notes like:

  • Any information about consumers paying higher prices for e-books

  • Details around antitrust litigation

  • Anything relevant to the key issues in dispute

That context feeds straight into the matter summary and helps Mary tune relevance ratings immediately, so the chronology and fact views surface what you care about first.

Faster to the facts that matter

Legal matters are not short on information. They are short on signal. By capturing your intent at upload time, Mary can start filtering and ranking documents and facts with your priorities in mind, without the back and forth of refining after the fact.

The result is less setup, fewer edits, and a much quicker path to the facts you actually need.

We’d love your feedback as you try it. This is a big step toward making Mary feel more intuitive, more responsive, and more useful from the very first upload.
