Can't Access Mary? How to Fix a 403 Forbidden Error

Quick answer: A 403 Forbidden error means Mary's security system has incorrectly blocked your access. This is not a problem with your network, firewall, or computer. Contact us at support@marytechnology.com and we will unblock your account, usually within hours.

What the Error Looks Like

When this issue occurs, you will see one of the following instead of the normal Mary login or dashboard:

  • A page displaying "403 Forbidden"

  • A page of raw HTML code mentioning an Application Gateway

  • A blank or broken page at app.marytechnology.com that prevents you from logging in entirely

The page may look technical and unfamiliar. That is expected -- it is an error page generated by our security layer, not by your browser.

Why This Happens

Mary uses a security system to protect against malicious traffic. Occasionally, this system incorrectly identifies a legitimate user as a potential threat and blocks access. This is a false positive on our side.

You do not need to contact your IT department, adjust your firewall settings, or change browsers. The fix must be applied by our team on our end.

What to Do

  1. Email support at support@marytechnology.com and include the following:

    • Your login email address

    • A screenshot of the error if possible

    • The approximate time you first saw the error

  2. Do not repeatedly try to reload the page. Each attempt may trigger further blocks. Wait until our team confirms the unblock.

  3. Once our team has unblocked your account, clear your browser cookies for app.marytechnology.com and try again.

Typical resolution time: Our team can usually unblock your account within hours during business hours. If you are blocked outside business hours, you will be unblocked first thing the next business day.

Is This the Same as "You Don't Have Access to This Application"?

No. There is a different error that looks similar but has a completely different cause. If you see a message like:

  • "AADSTS50105 -- Your admin has not granted you access to this application"

  • A Microsoft-branded login page with an access denied message

This is not the 403 Forbidden error described in this article. The AADSTS50105 error means your organisation's Azure Active Directory settings need to be updated to allow access to Mary. That is an IT administration issue within your firm.

If you are seeing the AADSTS50105 error, contact your firm's IT administrator and ask them to grant your user account access to the Mary Technology application in Azure AD.

How to Tell the Two Errors Apart

  • 403 Forbidden / raw HTML page = issue on Mary's side. Contact support@marytechnology.com.

  • Microsoft login page mentioning AADSTS50105 = issue with your firm's Azure AD settings. Contact your IT administrator.

If This Doesn't Work

  1. If you have contacted support and the 403 error persists after being told your account has been unblocked, try clearing all cookies and cache for app.marytechnology.com, then close and reopen your browser entirely.

  2. Try accessing Mary in a private/incognito browser window to rule out cached data causing the issue.

  3. If neither of those steps resolves it, reply to your support email with the updated details and we will investigate further.
