How to Update Your Payment Method If a Payment Fails
Quick answer: If your payment has failed or your card was declined, you can update your payment method via the billing portal portal available on your billing page under Settings > Billing. If you need further assistance, contact support@marytechnology.com.
Why Payments Fail
Common reasons for a failed payment include:
Your card has expired or been replaced by your bank
Insufficient funds at the time of the charge
Your bank flagged the transaction as unusual and blocked it
The billing address on file no longer matches your card
When a payment fails, your subscription remains active for a short grace period while we retry the charge. Your access to Mary is not immediately interrupted, but you will need to update your payment method to avoid a service disruption.
How to Update Your Payment Method
Follow these steps:
Go to Settings > Billing in Mary.
Click through to the billing portal portal to update your payment method.
Enter your new card details on the secure billing portal page.
Once you update your card, the failed payment will be retried automatically.
If you are unable to access the billing page or need further assistance, email support@marytechnology.com and we will send you a secure payment link directly.
Bank Transfer as an Alternative
If you would prefer to pay by bank transfer rather than credit card, this may be available depending on your subscription plan. Contact support@marytechnology.com to discuss this option.
We are able to handle invoicing for firms on an enterprise plan. Our team will provide the transfer details and confirm when payment has been received.
What Happens If Payment Is Not Resolved
If a failed payment is not resolved after multiple retry attempts, your subscription may be paused. This means:
You will not be able to process new chronologies or use credits
Your existing matters and data remain safe and accessible
Your account will be fully restored once payment is updated
We will always notify you by email before any service interruption.
If This Doesn't Resolve Your Issue
If you did not receive the secure payment link, check your spam or junk folder.
If the link does not work or shows an error, reply to the support email and we will resend it.
If your bank continues to decline the charge after updating your card, contact your bank directly to authorise transactions from Mary Technology.
If none of the above works, email support@marytechnology.com and we will arrange an alternative payment method.
